We are excited to announce that we will be starting a brand new auction event in the lovely city of Mesa, AZ. The reason we decided to add this event to our annual calendar is because our event in Phoenix is such a big hit that we wanted to have another one that was similar in size in a location that was in close proximity. We’ve collected data from all of our past events and know that we get a lot of visitors from Mesa. We also ask a bunch of attendee’s through different polls how far they would be willing to travel to attend a similar auction. The results were clear that we can host an event anywhere in the Greater Phoenix Metro area be able to fill out the seats.
At first, we had trouble deciding on what venue we were going to choose. Mesa is filled with great event options so we started exploring around the city in search of the perfect place. After a few stops, it was clear to us that the Mesa Convention Center was going to be the perfect location to have the biggest auction this large urban city has ever seen. Neighboring the cities of Chandler and Gilbert, Mesa has a population of close to 500,000 and has seen a huge influx of new residents in the past few years. Since the average cost of living is far below it’s surrounding areas, many people have chosen to move here in hopes of saving money and creating a better life for their families. Since there are lots of families in the area and we plan on having a lot of kids and teenagers in attendance, we’re going to be adding a fun new addition to our Mesa event. B.T. Bouncies, which offers the best bounce house rentals Phoenix and it’s surrounding cities has to offer, will be hosting this event and providing bounce houses, carnival games, dunk tanks, and more for all of the attendees. And the best part is… it’s FREE! The owner, Brian Bering, said that this would be a great way for his company to give back to the community and he hopes all the families that come enjoy the inflatable bounce houses and slides.
We are extremely excited to have our Facing Africa Auction for the first time in Mesa. Even though we have the venue picked out, we still don’t have a solidified date yet. If you want to be notified when we select the date and when discounted “early bird” tickets go on sale, please send us an e-mail and let us know. Just as a reminder all the profits from our auctions go to helping different causes in the struggling country of Africa. We do have to keep 28% of the profits in order to pay our staff for putting on these events so that means that over 70% of the money we raise goes to these fine charitable organizations. In Phoenix we usually raise about $300,000 per event which is enough to make some major progress and get lots of vaccines and clean water to those who need it. Please help us with our mission by attending this event and getting some really cool auction items at a price you would have never thought was possible.
The Facing Africa Auction is hosting it’s 10th annual auction on January 15th, 2016 at the Phoenix Convention Center. We are always excited to have this event because we usually raise about thirty thousand dollars that goes directly towards solving the problems currently facing Africa. There are always thousands of attendees at this specific event that come from all over Arizona including cities as far away as Lake Havasu, Flagstaff, and Tucson. This is one of our biggest auctions in the country and we always have a great time promoting because it also gives us a chance to educate people on the mission of the Facing Africa Auction.
While we do put on other smaller auctions throughout the state of Arizona, we always recommend to attend this specific event because of the large amount of items that will be auctioned off. On average, we usually have 50 items up for auction at our smaller, local events. Since this auction is a statewide auction, we will have over 500 items that will be auctioned off throughout the day. We will be releasing a schedule that will inform you of the specific time frames that you can bid on certain categories of items. For instance, this year we will be featuring cars, trucks, and other vehicles that you will have a chance to bid on from 12PM – 2PM. Our jewelry and antiques will be auctioned off from 9AM – 10AM. Since this event runs from 8AM – 8PM, we are hoping this auction schedule will help people that are only interested in specific things so you won’t have to wait around all day to bid on whatever items you want.
This year we will also be adding another bidding feature to the mix. We’ve had an auction app created for us that we will be launching for the Phoenix Auction. Since our auctioneer won’t have a chance to present every item in front of our live audience, we will be selecting certain items that won’t be part of the live auction but will be a part of our online auction. This means that you can bid on certain things and if you win, you will be able to get that item in person at the event.
We are extremely excited to see everyone at the Phoenix Convention Center for our 10th annual auction. If you have any questions about the event, please contact us. Discounted tickets will be available online soon so we highly recommend jumping on those while they’re available. We’ll also have a buy 1 get 1 free deal going on for a limited time for those of you that want to bring a friend or family member with you. If you’ve never been to one of these events, we have a bunch of vendors that will be serving food & drinks (including beer gardens) and a bunch of other really great stuff. We look forward to breaking our attendance record and raising more money for Africa than we ever have before!…
The Facing Africa Auction is a group of people dedicated to making a positive difference in Africa. With a diverse range of problems facing this great continent, we have decided to leave our legacy helping out the poor souls who live here and are experiencing hell. How do we accomplish this? We get many items donated to us from people of all economic classes, sell these items at auction, and use the money raised during the auction to donate to our partner charities.
We accept all sorts of items to auction off, and we’ve made a complete list of those items here. If you’re thinking to yourself that instead of buying something you don’t need in order to help us on our mission, we have a solution for you. We take donations from those of you who just want to help without going through the auction process. We encourage you to check out the items on our auction page because we usually have some great stuff at a bargain price, but if you don’t have time for that, we understand. If you’re wondering what our biggest concerns are in Africa, it would have to be hunger. While we understand that there is a severe shortage of medicines and vaccines in Africa, we also understand that if someone gets vaccinated than starve to death, nobody wins. We certainly donate to multiple charities that handle a wide range of issues but our main focus is food, and our second most important focus would be towards health care.
We appreciate all of your for taking the time to check out our blog and we hope we can inspire you to help us make a positive impact in this great country.
